J'ai constaté le comportment suivant sous plateforme WS2003 STD :
lorsque je redemarre le serveur physique, je constate que les clients NS n'arrivent pas à se connecter et j'ai un message comme quoi le serveur est offline (au niveau des clients)
lorsque je vais sur le serveur NS, et je force le redemarrage de NS via le menu, il me dit qu'il est déjà démarré... pourtant impossible d'accéder à la console, (message comme quoi le service est arrêté ou quelque chose comme ça)
Alors je vais en ligne de commande et je fais
net start thStorageServer
j'ai un message comme quoi il est déjà démarré !!
je force l'arrêt : (net stop) , puis fais un net start..
et là cette fois, le service est bien démarré car les clients peuvent à nouveau se connecter.
Cela est problématique car il faut faire une intervention manuelle à chaque redemarrage du serveur.

Je pense que ceci est lié au fait que le service de base de données -indispensable au fonctionnement du logiciel- est démarré juste après le service de stockage, lorsque le poste est allumé. Du coup, le serveur est vu comme "actif" (le service est effectivement démarré) mais pas joignable (la connexion ne peut pas se faire).
Pour vérifier, pouvez vous m'envoyer le log serveur et la version exacte du logiciel ?
Pour récupérer le log, cf manuel serveur, p40 : "2.8.4 Journalisation serveur et diagnostics d’erreurs".

dans la doc le chemin spécifié n'existe client ou serveur ! ni sur une version xp ni sur une version ws2003, la doc ne semble pas à jour sur ce point .
j'ai cherché dans mon disque un répertoire de nom "ultrabackup netstation" mais aucune trace de logs
idem pour un supposé répertoire logFiles .....

La documentation est à jour. Si vous utilisez bien la version 2 de NetStation, les chemins indiqués sont valides. Par contre, Windows cache par défaut le dossier de configuration commun à toutes les applications, soyez bien sûr que l'affichage des dossiers cachés est activé dans l'explorateur.

à l'exception de programData qu'il faut lire comme Application data (pour XP) à moins que je lise de travers
c'est juste que pour trouver les fichiers logs qui est loin de résoudre mon problème, cela m'a demandé un petit moment...

Effectivement, la service de sauvegarde n'arrive pas à se connecter à la base. Le poste posséde probablement un nombre conséquent de services, et FB doit démarrer juste après UB.
Pour corriger ceci, éditez le fichier thbackup.thconf, situé dans le dossier de configuration serveur.
Localisez la section [ServiceExecSettings] (si elle n'existe pas, créez-là).
Ajoutez la ligne suivante :
SyncWithDBSvcOnStartup=FirebirdServerDefaultInstance
De ce fait, UB attendra 6 * 20 secondes que le serveur de BD démarre, ce qui devrait corriger votre problème.
